Meet Assistant Architectural Technician, Harry Parfit
Assistant Architectural Technician Harry Parfit tells his story…
Where Did It All Begin?
I left school in 2014 after completing my GCSE’s. With a flair for Art and an interest in Design and Technology I was drawn towards a career in architecture. In early 2015 I gained an apprenticeship with Naftel Associates as an Assistant Architectural Technician and have thoroughly enjoyed my first taste of full-time employment.
I also took part in a variety of sports both in and outside of school including football, hockey and swimming. I enjoyed swimming for the Barracudas, won a variety of medals and Island championships and represented the island at Inter Insular level.
What The Future Holds
My main goal is to further my career in architecture. To that end, I shall continue to gain valuable experience working as a technician with Naftel Associates and shall be starting a Level 3 Course in Built Environment in the autumn of 2016.
A Typical Day In Harry’s Shoes
A typical day normally consists of a handful of things. I usually start the day by reviewing the work from the previous day to refresh my memory and then prioritise what I need to do. I use programmes such as AutoCAD and Sketchup and spend time drawing new schemes and designs for clients with the assistance of other members of the team. I occasionally get out of the office to go on a site visit or assist with a measured survey. I also help to keep our website and social media up to date.
Outside Of Naftel Associates
Outside of work I enjoy playing hockey for the Men’s Colombians 1st team and football for Rangers. I also like to spend time with my friends and relax listening to music and playing games on my Xbox.
